Moncurs sneak peek

Sneak Peek of the Moncurs! More pictures to come!

The Day Family Portraits

Had the chance to take fun family photos of the Days. I have been friends with this family for about 11 years now, and it's been fun watching their little boy grow up. I love taking pics of them, and I hope I get to keep doing it!

Braden's Headshots

One of my closest friends, Braden, works for Utah Festival Opera, and needed headshots for the summer shows. So he asked me to take some quick ones.

Kamilla's Senior Pics

I had the opportunity to do Kamilla's Senior Pictures. My friend is a drama teacher at a local high school and Kamilla is one of her students I was fortunate enough to be asked to photograph for senior pics. Kamilla is so sweet and beautiful, and I loved taking her pics!

Just a fun little Photography Project I did

So, Since I made a promise to myself that I would keep the sabbath day holy this semester, and I wouldn't do homework on Sundays, I kinda get antsy on those days. You see, I'm the type of person who can't sit still. I can't relax. I have a million things on my to do list and if I'm not doing something I feel guilty. So on sundays I try to do things I WANT to do, sewing, sleeping, and since it's so snowy outside (yes in April) I can't go for a walk with my puppy or just read out on the lawn. So today I played with my new 60d camera and did this to my facebook:

It was really quite easy. I set my camera up on a tripod in front of the wall I wanted to use. After that I got some cardstock scrapbook paper and with a black sharpie wrote the letters I wanted. Then I marked on the floor where I wanted to stand so I would always be in the same spot. I put the letters in reaching grasp. After I did all the settings I had someone push the shutter for me while I switched out the letters. Then when I edited them I made sure they were cropped to the same sizes with the letters in the middle so when they would appear on my facebook banner, they would be centered. When you load them onto your facebook, make sure you tag the LAST letter first, then so on and so on. Or else it will say "Olleh" instead of Hello. The balloons were just cut out from the same papers as the letters, but then I taped them to the wall and attached different color ribbon that I could hold on to!

Try one out and let me know how it turns out! Send me a link! I'd love to see it!

Here's a better view of the photos: I know some of them ended up blurry. :\ Oh well.

So Hello! Hope you have an uplifting day!

Photography Class: The Alter Ego

I'm really loving my Photography Class! My teacher is kinda funny, in a jerk kind of a way. :) And although I knew a lot about the technicalities of a SLR camera, It was nice to have a teacher really grill you on it and make you to exercises to perfect that. I really feel like this class is slowly making me a better photographer. I say slowly because of my slow learning. Practice makes perfect? Well with me it's Practice makes acceptable. And that's after LOTS of practice.
The project we're working on is called the alter ego. It's staged photos that we have to set up and take (lucky for me my SLR has a timer).
Well after some grueling and VERY late night photo shoots and some help from my lighting genius friend Brady Howard and borrowing wigs from Melanie and Chad and using my own as well, I was able to get a good collection and a couple of rolls of alter egos.
Well today I went to develop my film. I got the appropriate gear: canister, reel, can opener, scissors, etc, and went into the dark room. I switched the flip which turned on a bright red light sign outside the door that says 'ROOM IN USE.' and turned off the lights in the dark room and got to work. I got one roll of film onto the reel when I started on the second and BOOM. The door opened. Letting in tons of light onto my precious photos. The Photo Lab Monitor stared at me.
"I'm In here!" I shouted in shock. She stared at me.
"OH. Sorry!" She still stared.
"SHUT THE DOOR!" I cried!
Needless to say, both rolls had much damage and over exposure to them. After all the precious work and hours of sleep Brady and I had sacrificed, some IDIOT barged into an OBVIOUSLY occupied room without knocking. I just hope I can get enough prints for the required assignment. Which i DON"T have time to re-shoot. Anyway
I was able to get at least One good shot from this horrid experience.
Channeling My Inner Rosemary Clooney.
My alter Ego of being a Jazz Singer.

Kristi and Hemaraj Engaged!

I love taking engagements. They're probably my favorite photos to take. Well, along with the occasional bridal and production photos. But I always love engagements! The couple are so in love, and you can put them at such ease, and they are just so happy to be together!
Well my best friend is engaged and since I'll be her Maid of Honor I won't be available to take her Wedding photos (so sad) but I'm also so excited (and completely honored) to be her maid of honor. We've been best friends since our Drama teacher stuck us together on a project in tenth grade 11 or 12 years ago. And I've never had anyone in my life understand me more, finish my sentences better, follow my 1,000,000 mph thought process and topic changes. And we joke that no one drives us more in sane, but we don't love each other more than each other.
She lives in New Jersey and brought her fiancee to meet the family and to take engagement photos. It was great meeting him! He was adorable and funny and was a little put off by our craziness together. When we get together we're kinda like vinegar and baking soda. Poor Guy. Anyway.
CONGRATS BEST FRIEND!
